Senior Electrical Engineer — Control Panel Design

Location
Umargam, Gujarat
Experience band
7–12 yrs

About the role

Own control panel design for Machinecraft's thermoforming machines — schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, cabinet wiring drawings. You will be the senior electrical design voice in our Controls team, working alongside our PLC programmer and mechanical engineers through every machine build. This role exists to add bench strength and remove single-resource dependency on the electrical design side.

Apt person for this role

Best suited for a hands-on senior electrical design engineer who enjoys owning control-panel architecture from schematic to shop-floor release. This person should be strong in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, component selection, safety circuits, I/O coordination, commissioning support, and practical machine-building constraints.

What you'll own

  • Design control panels for new machine builds — schematics in EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical, panel general arrangement, BOMs
  • Specify and select electrical components — drives, contactors, breakers, sensors — to the right cost-performance point
  • Review and approve wiring drawings before fabrication
  • Coordinate with the PLC programmer on I/O lists and signal architecture
  • Support commissioning at the plant and on customer site for complex projects
  • Maintain compliance with Indian electrical standards (IS / IEC) and customer-specific requirements

What we're looking for

Required

  • B.E. or B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation
  • 7+ years designing industrial control panels for machine-building or process equipment
  • EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical — hands-on, not supervisory
  • Working knowledge of drives, contactors, safety circuits, and panel cooling
  • Comfortable on the shop floor — this is not a desk-only role
  • Willing to be based in Umargam (or relocate)

Preferred

  • Prior experience with thermoforming, injection moulding, blow moulding, or packaging machinery
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi or Siemens automation platforms
  • Export project experience (CE marking, UL panels)

How we'll measure success

MetricTarget
Panel design release per buildOn-time, first-pass approval rate ≥ 90%
Field rework on panels post-dispatch< 3% of panels
BOM cost variance vs targetWithin ±5%

Why this role

  • Senior seat with full design ownership — not a supporting role
  • Part of building Machinecraft's controls capability for the ₹500 Cr scale-up
  • Hands-on engineering culture — your designs hit the shop floor weekly
