CAD Design Engineer — SolidWorks (Position 2 of 2)

Location
Umargam, Gujarat
Experience band
3–7 yrs

About the role

Two openings on our mechanical design team — building 3D models, 2D detail drawings, BOMs, and assemblies for thermoforming machines. These roles add bench strength to the CAD function — today the senior CAD load sits on a single person, and as we scale we need depth, not just headcount. You will work directly with the Engineering Manager and learn the full machine from a third-generation team.

Apt person for this role

Best suited for a mechanical CAD engineer who enjoys converting machine ideas into accurate SolidWorks models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and shop-floor-ready assemblies. This person should be detail-oriented, comfortable with GD&T and sheet metal, and eager to learn complete thermoforming machine design.

What you'll own

  • 3D modelling of mechanical assemblies for thermoforming machines in SolidWorks
  • 2D detail drawings with proper GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing notes
  • BOM generation and revision control
  • Sheet metal design — covers, panels, guards
  • Coordinate with Procurement on long-lead items and with Production on manufacturability
  • Maintain part libraries and design standards

What we're looking for

Required

  • B.E. or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years on SolidWorks in a machine-building or production-equipment company
  • Solid grounding in GD&T and Indian manufacturing realities
  • Sheet metal design experience
  • Willing to be based in Umargam (or relocate)

Preferred

  • Exposure to thermoforming, injection moulding, or any plastics processing machinery
  • PDM or version control experience
  • Comfortable picking up new design tools — we are evaluating AI-augmented CAD workflows

How we'll measure success

MetricTarget
Drawing release per build cycleOn-time release ≥ 90%
Shop-floor queries per drawingTrending down quarter on quarter
BOM accuracy at first release≥ 95%

Why this role

  • Learn full thermoforming machine design from a 50-year-old family team
  • Real ownership — you will see your drawings turn into machines on the floor within weeks
  • Two seats opening together — strong peer to grow with
